Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh)Aug 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Moradabad Police booked 26 people for staging a mass gathering to offer namaz in a house without prior permission from local authorities.
Moradabad (Rural) Police Superintendent Sandeep Kumar Meena said: “Dozens of people gathered at the house of two villagers in Dulhepur village in Chhajlet region without notice and offered prayers. They had been warned in the past not to engage in such a practice at home, following objections from neighbors belonging to another community.”
He said: “One FIR was registered under IPC 505-2 (statement leading to public mischief in an assembly engaged in the performance of religious worship) against 16 identified and 10 unidentified persons on Chandra’s complaint Pal Singh. We are looking for those involved in the case.”
Photos of people believed to be praying inside the house in ‘large numbers’ in the village of Dulhepur had gone viral on social media, following which a few right-wing activists staged a protest and demanded action from the police.
