First Christian Church

First Norman Congregational Church, UCC

On Sunday, the Reverend Mark Davies, Ph.D., will preach “Mending the Road,” from Amos 7:7-17 and Luke 10:25-37, during the 4 p.m. worship service at 601 24th Ave. SW. The service will be broadcast live on the church’s YouTube channel. Davies is professor of social and ecological ethics at Wimberly and director of the World House Institute for Social and Ecological Responsibility at Oklahoma City University. Davies will be a guest minister this month. Louise Whitaker will serve as liturgist, and Neil Whyte will provide special music.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church

On the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, the church will celebrate Masses with Father Irwin at 7 a.m. in English and 8:30 a.m. in Spanish and with Father Carl at 10:30 a.m. in English and 1 p.m. in Spanish. All daily Masses are at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday through Friday in the Chapel and at 8 a.m. Saturday and Monday. The confessions schedule is 10:30 a.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. on Saturdays in the main church and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays in the chapel confessional. Today there will be no confessions at 10:30 a.m. and no daily mass at 12:05 p.m. Monday the church will have no daily mass at 8:00 a.m. The church will be holding bingo today in the gymnasium, with a first session at 7:00 p.m. and second session at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per session and $1 for breakdowns. The Golden Agers will provide dinner for $5 at 6:15 p.m. The church will hold a public Catholic funeral information and planning meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 19 in Metter Hall. The fifth annual Blessed Stanley Rother Rosary Run will be held July 23, with registration at 8 a.m. at the Catholic Pastoral Center, 7501 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City. On the fifth Sunday after Pentecost, the sermon will be “The Good Samaritan”, from Luke 10, 25-27, during divine services with communion at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)

On Sunday, Prof. Summerville will preach “The Parable of the Merciful Samaritan”, from Luke 10:25-37, during worship with Holy Communion at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. A Communion Breakfast will be held at 9:30 a.m., with a Christian Education and Prof. Summerville “Lutheranism 101” course at 10. An afternoon service will be available on YouTube at the University’s Lutheran Church and student center media. From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, the church will host a public foam recycling event hosted by Norman Public Library Central in their north parking lot. The public is encouraged to bring clean food service and polystyrene packaging without tape or paper labels. The church’s densifier will turn mountains of foam into 4-foot-long polystyrene logs.
