Kanye West turns Nirvana hits into cult songs

We don’t aspire to let you know what Kanye West has been up to, but the musician and his wife’s family (the Kardashians) simply won’t leave our world. At one of his “Sunday Service” gatherings (more on all that will be later), the rapper and his choir turned a pair of Nirvana hits into cult tunes, swapping selected lyrics for more religious lyrics .

“Sunday Service,” as shown in a video near the bottom of the page, finds Kanye organizing a spiritual gathering at different locations where attendees are airlifted. They are a hotbed of activity for celebrities like DMX, Tyler the Creator and Kid Cudi have all joined before.

The two minute clip below shows the band performing a gospel version of “Come As You Are”. As mentioned, the band takes liberty with the lyrics, embracing them for religious purposes, such as “Now is the time / Hurry / The choice is yours / Don’t be late / Just confess / He will do the rest / Christ is here / Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah. “

As the video progresses, the choir mixes it up and the brass section begins to play their rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

And here’s the video we told you about if you need to know more about Kanye West’s “Sunday Service”.
