When Sara Ali Khan posted a photo of herself with Janhvi Kapoor in Kedarnath with the caption: “Back to where it all started (emojis) #jaibholenath #grateful #blessed”, she shouldn’t have imagined it would show the Red Troll Army.
Kedarnath has been in the news lately due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the holy shrine to unveil a statue of Adi Shankaracharya. For Sara Ali Khan, it was an Instagram moment, but it exposed her to a vicious troll attack, which her father, Saif Ali Khan, is more used to.
Her attackers were angry with Sara for visiting the temple when she was a Muslim. They flooded his Instagram account with hateful messages. Some even went so far as to ask her to denounce her religion if she wanted to devote herself to idol worship. One of the trolls wrote: “Change your name… If you are not a Muslim.
An overwhelming number of her supporters, however, backed Sara for her choice. And the number of likes – 2.17 million, and more – showed that the trolls were a desperate minority.
